Pierre Le Cocq

Pierre Le Cocq was an excellent cricketer which started when he was a student at Elizabeth College and continued when he returned as a master after his teacher training. In 1961 he was awarded his island cap, #30, and two years later was nominated as the Young cricketer-of-the-year. He made his first appearance for the full inter-insular side in 1961 and ended up making 22 appearances in all. He was always involved in the game whether it was his batting or bowling. As a batsman he scored 410 runs with highest being 85 and 51 whilst his bowling was 190-52-498-25 at a strike rate of 19.9 and an economy rate of just 2.6. He also took 10 catches.

Besides cricket Pierre played hockey to a good standard.

Pierre was listed 91st in the All time Top 100 Guerney Sporting Heroes  by Rob Batiste in his Big Book of Guernsey Sport, published in 2016.
