Women’s International T20 Continental Cup 2026 – Romania

Thursday 27th August 2026 v Turkey
Friday 28th August 2026
Saturday 29th August 2026 v Romania
Sunday 30th August 2026 Finals day
In Group B are Norway, Greece, Malta and Isle of Man
The return to international competition marks an important step forward for the women’s programme. Following a hiatus from international fixtures in 2025, Guernsey Cricket successfully launched its new Women’s Super League (WSL), creating a competitive and sustainable domestic structure. The WSL has provided regular matches and a clear performance pathway, enabling selectors to identify and develop talent from a structured league environment.
Senior Women’s National Team Head Coach, Ilze Van Der Westhuizen, commented: “The launch of the Women’s Super League last year was a significant milestone for Guernsey Cricket. It has created depth, competitiveness, and consistency within the women’s game locally. We now have a strong domestic platform from which to select our national squad, and this tournament presents an exciting opportunity to test ourselves internationally.”
The Women’s Continental Cricket Cup will see Guernsey face European opposition in a T20I format, offering valuable experience and exposure for players as the women’s programme continues to grow. Chief Operating Officer Richard Headington added: “International opportunities are vital for the continued development of our senior women’s squad. The progress made through the WSL means we are entering this competition better prepared and with renewed momentum. We are grateful to Cricket Romania for the invitation and look forward to competing in Bucharest.”
Peter Mills, Joint Chair of Aspida, the Guernsey Cricket Senior Women’s National Team primary sponsor, said: “Aspida is proud to support Guernsey Cricket and, in particular, the continued development of the women’s game. Opportunities such as this tournament in Romania are hugely important in giving players the chance to compete internationally, gain valuable experience, and represent Guernsey on a wider stage. We are delighted to play a small part in supporting that journey.”
The event will feature full match officiating, awards presentations, and a gala dinner, with matches streamed live across global platforms; further raising the profile of women’s cricket in Guernsey.
T28th May 2026
This summer’s Women’s Continental Cricket Cup in Romania has been extended following the confirmation of the tournament line-up. Guernsey will be one of eight nations taking part at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground near Bucharest with the competition running from 26-30 August. The Sarnians have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Romania, Turkey and Czech Republic. The other group comprises Norway, Malta, Greece and Isle of Man. The competition will begin with a round-robin group stage before progressing to the semi-finals and final. The expanded tournament provides another valuable opportunity for Guernsey’s senior women to gain international experience, test themselves against a wide range of emerging European nations and continue building on the progress being made within the women’s game locally.

Guernsey Women Set for International Return at 2026 Continental Cup in Romania
March 19, 2026 Team Female Cricket
This August, the Guernsey women’s cricket team will pack their bags for Romania to compete in the Women’s Continental Cricket Cup. This marks a major return to the international stage for the “Greens,” who have not played an overseas fixture since their 2024 appearance at the Nordic Cup in Norway.
Guernsey Women Set for International Return at 2026 Continental Cup in Romania
The upcoming T20 tournament will see Guernsey face a diverse line-up of opponents, including the Romanian hosts, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Malta. For a side that saw very little action last year—their only outing being a tough loss to rivals Jersey—this trip represents a vital chance to regain momentum and test their mettle against continental peers.
Looking at their broader history, the team’s track record shows a side capable of holding its own. Since their T20 International debut in 2019, Guernsey has maintained a balanced “win-loss” record, currently sitting at 9 wins and 9 losses from 18 matches. While they have struggled specifically against Jersey, they have shown dominance elsewhere, including a clean 3-0 sweep against the Isle of Man and a victory over Norway. This balanced history suggests that when they step onto the field in Bucharest, they will do so as a competitive force with a genuine chance to climb the rankings.
A significant reason for the renewed optimism is the recent evolution of the domestic game. The introduction of the Women’s Super League has fundamentally changed the landscape for female cricketers on the island. By providing a structured and high-stakes environment at home, the league has unearthed new talent and sharpened the skills of the established squad members.
Head coach Ilze Van Der Westhuizen believes this internal growth is the key to their international future. “The launch of the Women’s Super League last year was a significant milestone for Guernsey Cricket,” she noted. “It has created depth, competitiveness, and consistency within the women’s game locally. We now have a strong domestic platform from which to select our national squad, and this tournament presents an exciting opportunity to test ourselves internationally.”
